Manufacturer range figures can look impressive, but real-world driving often tells a different story. Factors such as driving style, speed, temperature, and terrain all affect how far an electric car will go on a single charge.
In Scotland, colder temperatures and hilly terrain can reduce range slightly, particularly in winter. However, most modern EVs comfortably achieve 80–90% of their advertised range in normal conditions.
For everyday use commuting, shopping, school runs range anxiety is largely outdated. Planning longer journeys simply requires a brief stop at a rapid charger, which many drivers now treat no differently from a coffee break.
